OURstory
When CEO's Uzoamaka Obiocha and Kerline Astre (who joined the duo later), started Koncept
Consulting Group, they were all too familiar with the risks and challenges of developing an
organization. It was then that they decided to be the people in the middle that cared. They
decided to be the people who didn't just feed those who were hungry for growth and success
once, but to teach their clients and customers self-sustaining approaches to organizational
development.
Kerline Astre is co-owner of Koncept Consulting Group and Koncept Media Exposure. Koncept
Consulting Group is a consulting firm that services the organizational development needs of the
small business and non-profit sector. Koncept Media Exposure is a publicity consulting firm that
specializes in maximum exposure for its clients through constant media relations.
Over the years, she has sincerely dedicated herself to many things from organizing a group of
volunteers to paint a mural to putting together a brochure/newsletter for a
company/organization to being at the scene of a breaking news story. Her work ethic,
professional experience, leadership abilities, interpersonal skills, flexibility and team player abilities
has made her a valuable asset to many organizations.
Her non-profit career began about 15 years ago through her extracurricular and curricular
involvement in the community. Since graduating high school with over 4,000 hours in
community service, she has submerged herself in the non-profit world with a desire to actualize
this one of the many quotes she lives by, "Be the change in which you wish to see in the world".
For the past 5 years, she has immersed herself in perfecting the art of fundraising. From her past
posts as a Fundraising Coordinator, Development Associate, and Major Gifts Officer, she has
taken with her a unique ability to connect with the philanthropic world in a manner that fosters
giving.
"I believe in order to raise money, you have to touch hearts and in that lays a creative science to
an even more creative art. I don't proclaim to know all but I do proclaim to be willing to delve
beyond the surface of normalcy to solve this revolving issue of suppression and exclusionary
thought." – Kerline Astre
Her undergraduate studies were conducted at Florida A&M University where she majored in
Journalism and English. She has gained a significant amount of experience in the field of print
media as well as public relations and marketing including but not limited to the following:
Providing editorial services such as writing, editing, and contribution to overall content
production of several main name publications including Atlanta Inquirer, Style Magazine, and
Dunwoody Crier; providing publicity services that include writing and developing promotional kits
for up and coming artist.
She is a native of Miami, Florida by way of Haiti and currently resides in Stone Mountain, Ga. with
her three children.
Uzoamaka Obiocha
Internationally acclaimed personal finance expert Suze Orman; American investor, businessman
and philanthropist Warren Buffet; and first woman mayor and the first African-American woman
to serve as mayor of a major southern city, Mayor Shirley Franklin. The above icons all have one
thing in common; they have all served as chief inspirations to CEO and marketing/finance expert
Uzoamaka Obiocha.
"You know what moves me," she exclaimed, "individuals that break molds and create their own".
Indeed, this is what Uzoamaka herself is setting out to do.
Her office walls and shelves are papered with industry success stories, motivational quips and a
host of literature and print material that have all abetted in branding her as a person with
special knowledge or ability to perform skillfully. This has been illustrated in her work in the music
industry as a marketing and promotions specialist, her stream of developing entrepreneurs during
her stint as a business consultant, and in her service-oriented post on a non-profit board of
directors.
At present, she co-owns and operates Koncept Consulting Group Inc., a non-profit development
organization, and Koncept Media Exposure, a publicity firm. She explains that when Koncept first
started, the goal was to service the independent business owner through viable consulting that
envelope the specific needs of the budding entrepreneur.
"I believe in entrepreneurship," she said. "I have experienced first-hand all the advise I give during
consultations. I tell my clients what I tell myself, 'Where there is a dreamer, there is a dream
waiting to be actualized'".
"Financial freedom starts with the belief that one has already attained a wealth that is not
tangible, and that he/she is doing the necessary work to manifest this belief into actual riches",
she said.
With Koncept Consulting Group's mission being to foster positive social entrepreneurship,
Uzoamaka is front-runner on the team to make happen as they "transform concepts into realities".
Uzoamaka performed her undergraduate studies in marketing and finance at the University of
Connecticut and Georgia State University and currently resides in Stone Mountain, Ga.
Koncept Consulting Group is a socially invested not-for-profit consulting organization.
